What is BELKYRA™?

Belkyra is an injectable aesthetic product. Specifically, Belkyra is deoxycholic acid. Called Belkyra Injectable in Canada, it is Health Canada approved. It is called Kybella Injectable in the United States and likewise FDA approved. It has been proven a safe injectable substance that is used to reduce and potentially erase the excess fat under the chin. Belkyra is the first and only Health Canada approved injectable treatment that is used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat).

How does BELKYRA™ work?

The active ingredient in Belkyra® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Belkyra® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.*

What is treatment like?

The non-invasive treatment method is to inject the Belkyra drug in a grid pattern under the chin, customized to each patient and the pattern of stubborn fat. Optimal results are achieved with a series of sessions, typically two to three, to reduce the fat layer in the chin, help redefine your jawline and slim your chin. It is an effective way to get rid of your double chin without surgery.

How many treatments of BELKYRA™ will I require?

You and your doctor will customize your Belkyra® treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. During these sessions, your service provider will administer Belkyra® into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart. Lose your double chin fast!

How long will the results last?

When injected into the fat under your chin, Belkyra® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. They are gone. After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment with Belkyra® is not expected.*
