How does the BBL Photorejuvenation work?

Using the spectrum of BBL appropriate to the clinical objective for example age spots, irregular pigmentation, spider veins; light energy is transformed to heat energy. The chromophore in the target tissue-such as hemoglobin or pigment- responds to heat energy. The target is fragmentated and absorbed without damage to the surrounding tissue. The skin surface is left smooth and rejuvenated.

What is the average time involved in a treatment?

20-30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

What can I expect after the treatment?

BBL treatment has no downtime, you can even do it on your lunch. It does not require anesthesia however some patients may want to apply a topical numbing cream an hour before the procedure if they are more sensitive to light treatments. You may experience some reddness, and a mild sunburn sensation post treatment lasting usually 30-60 minutes. Cold compresses may be used after treatment if necessary. We encourage all patients to wear a suncreen with a 30 SPF or higher, as well as a hat after treatment for atleast 4 weeks. We do recommend that you continue to wear sunscreen ongoing to prevent further sun damage.

What areas can I have treated?

The most commonly treated areas are face, neck, chest, hands and arms, however most areas of the body can be treated.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the severity of skin damage you may need 3-5 treatments to acheive desired results and may be repeated if necessary in the future.
